More than 1,000 people from the emergency services and armed forces – including their family members – enjoyed a pre-Christmas treat courtesy of the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare.
The seafront attraction offered free unlimited ride wristbands over the weekend for those who work for, or have worked for, the fire and rescue, police, ambulance and air ambulance services, the RNLI, NHS employees, the British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Air Force, cadets and veterans.
More than 1,200 free wristbands were redeemed over the weekend.
Lucy Graham, Group Marketing Manager at the Grand Pier, said: “The emergency services and armed forces play a vital role in protecting us and our country.
“For the second year running, in recognition of their continuous dedication and commitment, we invited them for a weekend at the Grand Pier dedicated to them, as a small way of saying thank you for all that they do.
“We were so pleased that so many of them took up the offer.
“It was so rewarding for us to know that, if only for one day, we were able to offer them a fun-filled escape from the stresses, strains and responsibilities of their vital roles, and to help them make some precious memories with their loved ones.”
