When forests and vegetation go up in flames, firefighters are confronted with very specific challenges and dangers. Hardly any specialisation in the area of firefighting is as much in demand right now as fighting forest and vegetation fires, and this increases the demands on manufacturers of firefighting attire and protective clothing.
From Salzburg to the world
In the heart of Europe, more precisely, in the world-famous city of Salzburg in Austria, the highly specialised manufacturer has been dedicated to the development and fabrication of protective clothing for firefighters for more than three decades. TEXPORT®, a family-owned company, has not only managed to become ‘Number 1’ in Europe with its innovative products but has extended its roadmap to success to encompass the whole world.

Special requirements demand special solutions
In our headquarters in Salzburg, we recognized very early on that the increase in forest fires and vegetation fires would bring with it increasing challenges and we started looking for solutions. These solutions were found in a newly created product line called Fire Recon Wildland. In it, the sum total of our experience as craftsmen meets the most advanced materials to create a masterpiece for firefighters.
‘In vegetation fires, firefighters are subjected to different conditions and challenges than, say, in an interior rescue inside a burning house,’ says Ms. Nicole Heinemann, a member of our executive staff, and she adds: ‘With the Fire Recon Wildland Collection, we have succeeded in providing firefighters with a never-before-seen precision fit and with it greater comfort, which has a positive effect when performing physically difficult actions outdoors.’
But if the Fire Recon Wildland label is on something, there is a whole lot more high-tech development behind it. Not only were we able to achieve an exceptionally high breathability with the single-layer construction but we also succeeded in reducing the weight to a minimum.
Both properties are of extremely high importance, precisely in the case of fire calls in the fields and brush, where it is vitally important that sweat be wicked away from the body as well as possible, so that the physical performance of the person wearing our gear remains as high as possible for as long as possible. This reduces the risk that the firefighter will suffer heatstroke. The light weight of the jacket and trousers in turn has a positive effect on both wear comfort and range of movement.
The option of combining the jacket and trousers into a single, closed unit without much effort keeps the increasing heat from penetrating this system from the ground and also keeps out dust and dirt. The feedback that TEXPORT® has received from real-life practice and experience makes itself known in these and many other details, as it was taken into consideration in the development phase.
