Commenting on the recognition award, Managing Director Tony Hanley informed us “It’s a nice thing being recognised by my peers and given this award. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have served the industry for well over 35 years now, also to have been awarded the recognition for my 16 years of voluntary contribution to the trade association and the industry in general. I have seen a lot of positive change, which in my eyes still has a way to go, but things are moving slowly but surely in the right direction’ FirePro UK’s MD has successfully been re-elected for office for 8 successive consecutive 2-year terms as a volunteer board director.
At the UK Fire Industry Association annual general meeting luncheon event held in London with over 500 fire industry professionals and guests in attendance, Tony received a standing ovation in appreciation for Tony’s service and dedication to the post. Tony commented, “My time with the trade association goes way back over 25 years now. There were a number of things that I wanted to help improve and create change, so I put myself up for election sixteen years ago. I would like to think that to be successfully re-elected seven more times over, my contribution has continued to influence the incredibly strong position that the FIA finds itself in today. During my time, I have continually championed competency for our industry, as well as sitting on a working group for the Hackitt review following the Grenfell tragedy. I am encouraging anyone with a voice to use it and get involved, especially our younger members, as they are our future. Even if its not for the Fire Industry Association, it could be with youth clubs, the elderly, the vulnerable, find your voice, stand up, get involved and lend some support no matter how small, to help make things better’.
In tandem with Tonys drive for competency in the fire industry, he further commented ‘FirePro UK have created a market for an innovative and disruptive fire suppression product in the UK & Ireland, but with that comes the responsibility to contribute to promoting the LPS 1204 3.2 competency scheme to the specifier market and encourage the FirePro installer network to follow best practice competency accreditation.’
The FirePro product range lends itself to protecting many fire risk types from virtually all classes of fire to lithium-Ion battery storage, and Ex classification, in numerous applications for many different industries. The FirePro UK case study library is testimony to the success they have delivered in the UK for the FirePro product and includes successful projects such as the Lloyds of London building, Tayside Ninewells NHS, offshore lighthouses, Tottenham Hotspur F.C. British Airways, Eurostar and many more.
‘The fire industry has been predominantly male dominated until only very recently, so we are supporting initiatives to foster a strong culture of sustainability, nurturing new talent for the future of the industry, promoting diversity, and expanding knowledge and fostering growth. FirePro UK therefore wholly support the Women in Fire Safety annual awards https://www.womeninfiresafety.com, which has grown massively since its inception in 2021. we will definitely be joining the 2024 event in London this September.
