The Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR) develops, maintains and shares knowledge and learning to support a disaster-resilient Australia. Building on extensive knowledge and experience in Australia and internationally, we work with government, communities, NGOs, not-for-profits, research organisations, education partners and the private sector to enhance disaster resilience through innovative thinking, professional development and knowledge sharing.
AIDR’s programs span websites, publications and events. The evolution of the web-based Knowledge Hub, a refresh of the Australian Disaster Resilience Handbook Collection, and improved circulation and focus of the Australian Journal of Emergency Management means AIDR reaches more Australians than ever through modern and accessible platforms.
AIDR is supported by its partners: the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs, AFAC, the Australian Red Cross and the Bushfire & Natural Hazards CRC.
At AFAC18, AIDR will be hosting the Australian Disaster Resilience Conference, which will run as a single stream conference concurrently with AFAC18 powered by INTERSCHUTZ. AFAC18 delegates will have the opportunity to attend the stream as part of their AFAC18 Conference ticket.
AIDR will also host the Knowledge Centre at the AFAC18 trade exhibition, sharing knowledge generated from research and projects occurring in fire and emergency management.
